Opening event of the DEI4SME Hackathon I (Finland & Online) was hosted on February 4th, 2024 and gathered almost 200 participants with about half of them joining online and half at the University of Vaasa campus in Finland.

The online and on campus programs were hosted in parallel so that all participants would have a possibility to comfortably interact and get to know how the next two weeks in the hachkathon will be organized. The company presentations were delivered simultaneously and were streamed in hybrid mode with some company representatives joining onsite and some online.

In addition to the official program, the onsite participants got energized by live music and tasty snacks while online participants played interactive games. The hackathon I was opened with a short movie "Diversity, Equity, Inclusion (DEI) is like walking on ice!" created by the DEI4SME project's team during their first live strategic meeting in Vaasa - welcome to watch online if you missed it during the opening event.
