Interviewer: Thank you for joining us today. To begin, we’d love to hear about the personal or professional experiences that sparked your passion for diversity, equity, and inclusion. What key moments in your life have motivated you to pursue DEI efforts?

Franziska: My motivation for engaging in DEI efforts comes from my personal and professional experiences. As a volunteer hospice companion and during my training to become a systemic coach, I have seen firsthand how inclusivity and equity can significantly impact people’s well-being. Supporting individuals at the end of life has reinforced my belief that everyone deserves to feel seen, heard, and valued, regardless of their background. My training as a systemic coach further strengthens my commitment to fostering understanding and inclusion in both personal and professional settings. Additionally, being a woman navigating entrepreneurship and different career paths has heightened my awareness of the challenges that underrepresented groups face.

Interviewer: That’s truly inspiring. Could you share who or what has played the biggest role in shaping your dedication to promoting DEI? How has this influence impacted the way you approach inclusion and equity in your work?

Franziska: One of my biggest inspirations in my commitment to promoting DEI has been my personal experiences of supporting my mother when she was ill. Witnessing her challenges reinforced my understanding of the importance of compassion, dignity, and equitable care for all individuals, regardless of their circumstances. Additionally, my volunteer work at the hospice has shown me how deeply inclusivity and respect can impact people during their most vulnerable moments. Furthermore, having close friends and colleagues from the LGBTQ+ community has given me valuable insight into the struggles and discrimination they often face. Their resilience and openness have shaped my approach by emphasizing the need for safe, inclusive spaces where everyone feels valued and heard. These experiences drive me to actively advocate for diversity, equity, and inclusion in all aspects of life and work

Interviewer: Thank you for sharing such meaningful reflections. Let’s talk about the core principles that guide your work in DEI. What values are central to your efforts, and how do they influence your day-to-day work and interactions with others?

Franziska:  My interest for DEI is driven by values such as empathy, fairness, and empowerment. I believe that everyone, regardless of their circumstances, should have access to opportunities that allow them to thrive. These values influence how I approach my work—whether through coaching, business, or daily interactions—by ensuring that I foster a culture of understanding and inclusion in every space I engage with.

Interviewer: It’s wonderful to see how those values guide you. What is your vision for change through your DEI work? What specific improvements or transformations would you like to see, and what keeps you motivated to push forward?

Franziska: Through my commitment to DEI (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion), I aim to contribute to a society where people from all backgrounds feel valued and have access to equal opportunities. I am particularly focused on creating more inclusive work environments, achieving better representation in leadership positions, and providing stronger support for underrepresented groups in business and entrepreneurship. My motivation comes from a desire to break down existing barriers and create a future where diversity is not just acknowledged, but actively celebrated and integrated into decision-making processes.

Interviewer: That’s a powerful vision. Finally, how has your involvement in DEI initiatives helped shape your personal and professional development? What key lessons or skills have you gained from these experiences?

Franziska: My involvement in DEI initiatives has helped me develop greater cultural awareness, stronger communication skills, and a deeper understanding of systemic challenges. As someone who has transitioned between different professional paths and industries, I have learned how crucial adaptability and open-mindedness are in fostering inclusivity. These experiences have also reinforced my ability to advocate for others and create meaningful change, whether in my personal life, business endeavors, or social engagements.

Interviewer: Thank you so much for sharing your insights and experiences. We greatly appreciate your time and openness today!
