Some useful tools to start managing diversity in SMEs

Changing business environment requires different management tools that are not always easy to access for small and medium firms (SMEs). In this blog post, we present some excellent tools that enterprises can use for free.

DEI4SME is working on creating an effective digital tool and a learning ecosystem for SMEs to work with social responsibility and intersectionality of different diversity dimensions (age, gender, LGBTQAI+, race, religion, language, ability, care giving responsibilities, etc.). But in addition, one of our goals in this learning ecosystem is to highlight existing useful management tools that enterprises can use already today. These tools might be focused on one diversity dimension or specific DEI practice, but they are still very useful. Here are some of them:

➡ If you are looking to learn about DEI and how to bring it to the company?

>> The Intercultural toolkit from Helsingin seudun kauppakamari – Helsinki Region Chamber of Commerce is a skill-building platform bringing awareness on diversity and interculturality to individuals, leaders, and teams through information, exercises.

➡ If you need an online tool to support internal development of your diverse workforce?

>> Talent4LIFE Personal Development Plan is an online tool to support the development between employee and employer through an informative process and tasks in worksheets. This is a freely available performance management and employee growth management tool.

➡ Considering how to develop inclusive business communities?

>> This European Marketing and Management Association panel discussion explores social sustainability role to promote inclusive business communities with a focus on DEI principles: why diversity matters in business? We know this is a short list, which is just a start!

➡ We continuously gather some resources on the topic and you are welcomed to check out these resources in our website, here.

What else could be included in this list? Please comment and help us spread the word and compile some of freely available frameworks and tools for SMEs targeted to address DEI and social sustainability.
